TunesOnTheTube.tv Newsletter – December 2008
Hi, and welcome to this month’s newsletter. For those of you who are new
to us this month, a warm welcome!
TunesOnTheTube.tv is going from strength to strength! We are
currently covering 74 popular TV shows, with more in the pipeline, and our
visitors now span the globe, coming from
nearly 130 countries around the world!
December's "Featured Artist of the Month" is Kate Voegele.
We choose the artist based on the number of shows in which they have had
songs played, and Kate's songs have been in “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Kyle XY”, “The Hills”, “One Tree Hill”
and many others.
Just an update on a previous “Featured Artist of the Month”: we exchanged
many e-mails this year with the
Last month's “Featured Artist” was songwriter Gordon Pogoda, who has
written many songs which have been featured in film and on TV, notably “If
Cupid had A Heart”, sung by Julie Griffin on the immensely popular show
"Hannah Montana”. Gordon has also written entries for the “Eurovision Song
Contest”, the HUGE live annual event watched by millions every May in
HELP needed! Here at TunesOnTheTube.tv, we work hard to make sure that the shows we
cover are updated as quickly as possible after they air, but there are only so
many hours in the day! So please forgive us if we are sometimes a
little late. We continue to welcome contributions from our loyal visitors, so
please, if you know of a song that we missed, let us know. If you have a list
of songs that were played in a show and we haven’t yet updated it, please tell
us, or if you think we got something wrong, also please let us know.
Vampires! The show that we covered that got the most reaction in the last few
months was, without a doubt, “Moonlight”, so it came as a shock when CBS
decided they were not going to renew the show for a second season. Millions
of fans of the vampire detective show were also very upset. Two bits of good
news on that front are that the complete series is being released on DVD
in January (in the
But one vampire door closes and another opens, as HBO launched “True
Blood” based on the Charlaine Harris series of books. We list all the music
played in that show as well - see our True Blood page or visit www.TrueBloodSoundtrack.com. And finally on the vampire front, check out
the film “Twilight”, which is breaking box office records!
Canceled: Of the new shows launched in this Fall season, “The Ex-List” “Easy
Money” and “My Own Worst Enemy” are confirmed canceled. “Valentine” is almost
certain to follow shortly, but “Lipstick Jungle”, which was rumored to have
been axed, is in fact still surviving, at least for now.
The British invasion continues to gain strength as “Life On Mars” (see www.LifeOnMarsSoundtrack.com), “Eleventh Hour”, and “Worst Week” are all
American re-makes of British shows, while nearly every American show seems to
boast a UK or Australian lead.
We had the pleasure recently of meeting Michelle
Phillips, the actress and one time Mamas and
Papas singer. On her behalf we are selling some of the wardrobe that she
wore on the huge hit show of the '80s and '90s, “Knots Landing”. If you want
to see any of the clothes, click here.
